Generation X
Generation X comprises people born between the late 1960s and early 1980s. This generation is characterized by economic stagnation, political change, and the introduction of new technologies such as computers and cell phones. Members of Generation X have often been described as skeptical and cynical and are known for being able to work and make decisions on their own.
Generation Y
Generation Y, also known as Millennials, was born between the early 1980s and late 1990s. This generation has its own view of the world and is often described as self-confident and optimistic. Members of Generation Y have witnessed the transition to digitalization and the Internet and have grown up in a world where social media and smartphones are ubiquitous.
Generation Z
Generation Z includes those born between the late 1990s and late 2000s. This generation is often described as technologically savvy, diverse and pragmatic. They have grown up in a world where the Internet is ubiquitous and have a tremendous amount of information at their fingertips to make their decisions. Members of Generation Z are also known to be committed to social justice and sustainability.
The Alpha Generation
Generation Alpha is often described as the first generation born in a world where technology and artificial intelligence are ubiquitous. This generation is expected to be born between 2010 and 2025 and is the first generation to grow up with smartphones and tablets from birth. Members of Generation Alpha have often been described as digitally savvy and curious, but also skeptical of traditional forms of education.
Summary
Generation Next is a summary of Generations X, Y, Z and Alpha. Each of these generations has its own unique characteristics that distinguish it from other generations. Members of Generation Next have grown up in a world characterized by technological advancement and change and have their own views of the world and the future. Although they are often described as different, they also share many commonalities and challenges, particularly with regard to global climate change and creating a sustainable future.
