❌ The shocking result: 3.8% of the advertising should have been shown to adults only.
➡ In terms of content, this mainly involves advertising for gambling and alcohol, but also for cosmetic procedures or weight loss, as well as foods with high fat, salt or sugar content.
According to the study, this was possible because 11% of the children and adolescents had simply pretended to be of age.
Only 48% of them gave idas actual age when using social media.
🤔 In 73 cases, however, children who had entered the correct age in their profile were also shown inappropriate advertising.
In the study, children were asked about seven most popular social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitch, Twitter and YouTube. 55% of children and young people said they use YouTube, for example, without an account. Access to other platforms tends to be more limited without a profile.
